AS3786 Australia Standard for Smoke Alarm: What is Required
AS3786 edition 2014 is the mandatory standard for smoke alarm in Australia, specifying the requirements of applicable detection devices using scattered light or ionization principles.
The newest edition is 2014, which supercedes the old 1993 edition introduced by CSIRO, recognized by the Building Code of Australia.
The main difference of AS 3786 from European EN 14604 and ISO 12239 is slight variance to service disconnect facility, markings, corrosion test, EMC, sensitivity, sounder durability & electrical safety.
All manufacturers have to conform to above standard and listed in CSIRO’s ActiveFire scheme in order to be eligible to sell the fire detector in the market.
